Sydney Australia, 2004

A TV-Anytime conference took us down to Sydney for a few days in mid November.

The weather was glorious, with just a little rain to relieve the heat. Arriving a couple of days early, meant we could take some time to visit this wonderful City. So, enjoy the pictures, If you want copies of the pics, or would like some info on any of them, e-mail me.

Naturally, I had to snap the Opera House, on the way from Darling Harbour around to Circular Quay.
Around the bay are all sorts of great images....
and what a great place to fly too......
This looks like a great way to see the bay, sadly we didn't have the time to try it.
This chap was gatecrashing a wedding party :-)
An evening on a boat back from Manly
and some "proper" sailing in the harbour.....
Last minute practise for a CYCA offshore race
Meet Kate, a friend we bump into in all sorts of places....nice view from her apartment balcony eh?
Ohhh....and they have some rather impressive bats!
Circular Quay by night....
One of the days, we went out to the Blue Mountains, stopping on the way at an animal sanctuary......
This little chap is a Tasmanian Devil......
and this one, a Wombat.....
I guess, you know what this is?
and this cute fella, is a Dingo
So, after the animals, we headed out into the bush.....no, really, we went walkabout.....honest....
Well, it was a "bush trail" accoring to our guide, it's just that is was only about 200 yards ;-)....Anyway, here we are at the first viewpoint over the Jamison Valley.
On the way, we stopped at a proper old fashioned sweet shop.....Mmmmmmmmm, I bought Acid Drops and Pineapple Chunks ;-)
These are the "Three Sisters", there's a great story about how they came to be, something to do with a Bunyip in Dreamtime.
On the return, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit the Olympic Stadium......These flood lights were a million bucks each!
SO, by the So post......all these posts are covered with the names of the 20 thousand or so volunteers that helped out at the games.
This one, is a friend of ours...more of her later.
Takes a lot of poles to write 20 thousand names on!
Some sculling on the river on the way back to the hotel.
I imagine the pilto on this freighter was hoping he'd judged it right when it he said "sure it'll fit under" :-)
So, I said this was a work trip, right? Here are some photos from the TV-Anytime social event........a lawn bowls evening........no, really....it was fun!!
Of course, opting out to drink was also an option
But most were hooked......here they are watching the instruction!
A master at work......
Very good Ronald, not sure the instructor is so impressed.......
They roll nicer if you chat with them, apparently......
As you can see, our instructor almost gave up on us completely.....
But the British War Dance soon brought her round again.......
Here you can see the years of cricket training taking over.....rolling the wrist on release, must be a googly......
The Ladies off to a flying start......
By the looks of this, you might think all the training had paid off.......actually, this was Mark Jeffrey's first ever bowl!! and from here, it went a little Pete Tong.....
I think the picture just about covers it........Well done chaps ;-)
So, on to our last night in Sydney....Remember I mentioned a friend who helped out at the Olympics? Well, this is her on the left...Clare Harvey, a stand up lass, with her hubby to be on the right, and my boss in the middle with Shivs.
On the trip back, we had to stay over in Singapore, providing an opportunity for a little stroll down Orchard Road to see the Christmas lights.....
So, I'll leave you with some of the famous sights of Sydney......
And here are a few panoramas, stiched together from multiple shots, using Panorama Factory....fantastic bit of kit!!!
Bondi beach, taken from the Icebergs Club.
Circular Quay, from that fantastic balcony!
and two shots of the Jamison Valley.......
